
TAMPA, Fla. – The Gainbridge Super League today announced the Team of the Month for March, with Carolina Ascent forward Tyler Lussi named Player of the Month after helping lead her side to an undefeated run that has pushed the side toward its second consecutive postseason berth.
A winter addition by Carolina, the veteran forward scored a pair of game-winning goals for Ascent against Tampa Bay Sun FC and DC Power FC in consecutive games while recording 15 shots, putting her second in the league over the month, and notching a 50 percent shooting accuracy mark.
Lussi also completed 45 of 77 passes while making 16 recoveries and four interceptions and won possession twice in the attacking third, earning a +1.57 Goals Added mark per American Soccer Analysis, helping propel Carolina’s attack as the side went 3-0-1 in March to solidify its place in the top three of the Gainbridge Super League standings.

GK – Sydney Martinez, Carolina Ascent FC: The Puerto Rico international recorded 13 saves at a save percentage of 92.9% recording three shutouts and conceding only once in four appearances, logging a -2.8 Goals Prevented mark over the month.
D – Taylor Chism, Tampa Bay Sun FC: Chism led the league with 36 clearances in the month and won 21 duels at a 55.3 percent success rate and five tackles at a 71.4 percent success rate to help the Sun claim a pair of victories.
D – Maggie Illig, Sporting Club Jacksonville: The first-year pro went the full 90 minutes in all three of Jacksonville’s contests and completed 165 passes at an 87.3 percent accuracy rate while recording 18 recoveries, six interceptions and winning 16 duels at a 72.7 percent success rate.
D – Ginger Fontenot, Spokane Zephyr FC: Fontenot recorded one goal and two assists for Zephyr while recording nine shots and five chances created overall and defensively won 18 duels at a 52.9 percent success rate.
D – Regan Steigleder, Lexington SC: Steigleder ranked second in the league with 249 completed passes at a 94 percent accuracy rate and made 26 recoveries and 12 recoveries defensively while proving influential as Lexington closed in on a playoff berth.
M – Heather Stainbrook, Dallas Trinity FC: Stainbrook recorded one goal on six shots and was influential in Dallas’ midfield, completing 130 passes at a 78.3 percent accuracy rate while winning 25 duels at a 54.4 percent success rate and seven tackles at a 63.6 percent success rate.
M – Sophia Boman, Sporting Club Jacksonville: Boman recorded two goals and one assist in three appearances and notched seven shots and nine chances created, ranking second in the league in the latter category, while completing 114 passes at an 80.3 percent accuracy rate and winning 14 duels at a 58.3 percent success rate.
M – Darya Rajaee, Lexington SC: Rajaee recorded one goal on two shots and completed 138 passes at an 82.1 percent accuracy rate while notching 16 recoveries and six interceptions and winning 10 duels at a 58.8 percent success rate.
F – Tyler Lussi, Carolina Ascent FC: The veteran recorded a pair of game-winning goals and ranked second in the league with 15 shots over the month to help the Ascent earn an undefeated month.
F – Loza Abera, DC Power FC: The Ethiopian international recorded two goals and one assist in five appearances while ranking third in the league with 14 shots and also notching eight chances created and a 70 percent shooting accuracy rate for the month.
F – Faith Webber, Tampa Bay Sun FC: Webber recorded one goal and one assist to help the Sun claim consecutive victories for the first time this campaign and recorded 10 shots and two chances created overall while posting a 50 percent shooting accuracy rate.
Coach – Philip Poole, Carolina Ascent FC: Poole led his side to an undefeated month with three wins out of four games as the side ranked second in the league with 7.65 Expected Goals and conceded only once to continue to close on a postseason berth.
