Lexington takes aim at Final berth after winning Players’ Shield, Trinity looks to spring upset on the road after late-season surge
LEXINGTON, Ky. – No. 1 seed Lexington SC plays host to No. 4 seed Dallas Trinity FC in the Semifinals of the 2026 Gainbridge Super League Playoffs on Saturday night at Lexington SC Stadium with the hosts looking to cap its worst-to-first campaign with a trip to the Final against a Trinity side that won consecutive games to close the regular season to earn its second consecutive trip to the playoffs. Kickoff is scheduled for 7 p.m. ET on Peacock. Here’s what you need to know.
How They Got Here
Lexington SC (14-3-11, 53pts) – Lexington SC claimed its first silverware in club history on the final day of the regular season, claiming the Players’ Shield in dramatic fashion as it edged out Sporting Club Jacksonville on goal differential after a late 1-0 win against Tampa Bay Sun FC in its regular season finale. The result capped a season in which LSC recorded a 35-point improvement year-on-year, going from a last-place finish in the 2024/25 campaign to the top of the standings in Year 2. Lexington opened the campaign on a league-record 16-game undefeated streak and suffered only three losses in the regular season, with goalkeeper Kaitlyn Parks winning the Golden Glove via a 0.86 goals-against average as the side conceded a league-fewest 24 goals, while the side also boasted the Golden Boot winner in Cat Barry, who set a Super League single-season record with 16 goals in the regular season campaign.
Dallas Trinity FC (11-10-7, 40pts) – Dallas Trinity FC experienced an up-and-down campaign that came good over the final two games of the season as the side took victories against last year’s finalists Tampa Bay Sun FC and Fort Lauderdale United FC to claim the fourth and final playoff spot. Trinity had one of the widest spreads of goalscorers in the league, with United States youth international Sealey Strawn leading the side with five goals – tied for 16th in the league – while Allie Thornton and Camryn Lancaster each recorded four goals apiece. Despite that, Dallas still ranked fourth in the league with 36 goals in the regular season, with the side’s four-goal performance to clinch its postseason berth tied for its best of the campaign.

Players to Watch
Lexington SC – Cat Barry: The 2025/26 Gainbridge Super League Golden Boot winner recorded a single-season record 16 goals in the regular season while also becoming the first player in league history to record 20 goal contributions in a regular season campaign. Lexington is 11-0-3 this season when Barry gets on the scoresheet, and 3-3-8 when she doesn’t, with the 24-year-old proving a key difference-maker.
Dallas Trinity FC – Amber Wisner: The versatile veteran has played every minute of the past two regular seasons for Trinity, stepping into midfield in recent weeks to help marshal the side to the postseason. Wisner leads the team with 136 clearances and 59 aerial duels won at a 65.6% success rate while winning 59.1 percent of duels and will likely be a key figure as the visitors look to slow down Lexington’s attack.
