With just over a month until the start of the 2026 Gainbridge Super League Fall Season, teams are beginning to take shape through a wave of exciting roster announcements. DC Power’s latest additions make it clear the club is intent on making a statement and positioning itself as a serious contender this season.
After narrowly missing the postseason for a second consecutive season, DC has strengthened its squad with an impressive mix of returning league experience and new additions. The club signed forward Tyler Lussi, who arrives in the nation’s capital after spending the spring with Carolina Ascent, along with a pair of former Spokane players in midfielder Emma Jaskaniec and defender Sarah McCoy. DC also added goalkeeper Katie Cappelletti, who brings experience with multiple NWSL clubs, and standout collegiate midfielder Tatum Thomason, both of whom are new to the league.
Tyler Lussi, Forward
Lussi has nearly a decade of NWSL experience and a proven scoring record. Across 153 appearances with Portland Thorns FC, Angel City FC and the North Carolina Courage, the 31-year-old scored 19 goals and captured an NWSL Championship with Portland during her rookie season in 2017. Most recently, the Lutherville, Md. native starred for Carolina Ascent FC in the Gainbridge Super League, earning Gainbridge Super League Player of the Month honors for March 2026 as she recorded four goals and one assist in 986 minutes, including a pair of game-winning goals as Ascent reached the Super League Final. Among forwards, Lussi also graded in the 83rd percentile with 3.2 shots and 74th percentile with 5.4 box touches per 90 minutes during her run with Carolina. Before beginning her professional career, Lussi became Princeton University’s all-time leader in goals (53) and points (122) while also representing the United States at the U-23 level.
Sarah McCoy, Defender
McCoy will strengthen Power FC’s backline and bring leadership experience after captaining Spokane Zephyr FC during the 2025-26 USL Super League season. The 27-year-old earned Team of the Month honors in September 2025 after leading the league in clearances early in the campaign, and she went on to log 24 appearances and 1,848 minutes in the regular season. The Durham, N.C. native, who was raised in Brighton, Mich., also brings professional experience in both the NWSL and Australia’s Liberty A-League, spending time with the North Carolina Courage before making 16 appearances for Canberra United. At the collegiate level, McCoy played at Purdue and the University of Virginia, helping the Cavaliers post 13 shutouts during the 2021 season.
Emma Jaskaniec, Midfielder
Jaskaniec arrives after spending the first two seasons of the Gainbridge Super League with Spokane Zephyr FC. She produced one of the league’s most memorable moments during the 2025-26 campaign, scoring a stunning 90th-minute long-range equalizer against Brooklyn FC that earned USL Super League Goal of the Month honors for September 2025, and went on to record four goals and one assist in 2,310 minutes as one of the key players in Zephyr’s midfield. The 25-year-old also graded in the top 25% in the league among midfielders with 8.6 defensive actions per 90 minutes and provided an attacking threat arriving in support, averaging 2.5 penalty area touches per 90 minutes, offering a strong all-around presence. Before turning professional, Jaskaniec enjoyed a standout five-year career at the University of Wisconsin, tallying 37 goals in 91 appearances while earning Big Ten Midfielder of the Year honors in 2022.
Tatum Thomason, Midfielder
Power FC adds promising midfielder Tatum Thomason, who begins her professional career after a standout collegiate career at the University of Washington and Arizona State. The Peoria, Ariz. native entered the college ranks as the 2021 Arizona Gatorade Player of the Year before finishing her career with the Sun Devils, where she led the team in goals, points and penalty kicks during the 2025 season. Thomason was a driving force at Arizona State, averaging 8.1 progressive actions – including 2.9 progressive runs – and 0.43 Expected Goals per 90 minutes, attacking numbers that could help lift DC’s attacking numbers. Overall, Thomason started all 19 matches as a senior and earned All-Big 12 Second Team honors.
Katie Cappelletti, Goalkeeper
Cappelletti arrives after professional stints with the North Carolina Courage and Kansas City Current in the NWSL, where she has served as a back-up over the first 18 months of her professional career. The Fayetteville, N.Y. native played a standout collegiate career at Saint Joseph’s University, where she became the program’s career leader in both saves (422) and shutouts (27). In her final collegiate season, Cappelletti topped the Atlantic 10 in saves and save percentage, earning Atlantic 10 Goalkeeper of the Year and First Team All-Conference recognition, and now will be aiming to burnish her professional bona fides as she joins Makenna Gottschalk in DC’s goalkeeping corps.
