24-year-old’s late equalizer moments after late substitution against Dallas Trinity proved ideal introduction to new club
As the saying goes, you only get one chance to make a good first impression.
Brought on with a minute to play in her debut for Tampa Bay Sun FC, Tori Zierenberg made the most of her opportunity.
With her first shot as a member of the Sun after her offseason move, the 24-year-old found the net with a deft first-time finish to earn her side a 1-1 draw against Dallas Trinity FC in its season-opening game of the 2026 Fall season at the Cotton Bowl.
For Zierenberg, the night was one of elation as she helped the inaugural Gainbridge Super League title-winners get out to a positive start to its new campaign.
“It means so much,” she said. “It’s been a joy to be a part of such an amazing group of women and getting to play with them every day is awesome. Scoring is my joy and love for these girls shining through.”
For her performance, Zierenberg has been selected as August’s Prinx Impact Sub of the Month in the Gainbridge Super League, a series highlighting key substitutions that have changed the course of a game this season.

The goal marked Zierenberg’s first as a substitute in the Super League, having previously been a regular for Spokane Zephyr FC during the 2025/26 campaign in which she logged four goals and three assists. Since logging a goal in her debut for the Sun, the California native has also notched an assist, setting up Jordan Zade’s finish against Sporting Club Jacksonville in Week 2 while also coming off the bench.
As Tampa Bay looks to return to the postseason this fall, Zierenberg is already showing signs of offering the attacking spark the side needs to be a contender.
