
Paul Jennison appointed interim Head Coach as club begins process of identifying next permanent head coach
FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla. — Fort Lauderdale United FC announced on Tuesday it had parted ways with Head Coach Tyrone Mears. The club also announced Paul Jennison will serve as the club’s interim Head Coach as it continues evaluating its coaching structure and begins the process of identifying its next permanent head coach.
“We want to thank Tyrone for his passion, dedication and commitment to Fort Lauderdale United FC,” said FTL UTD General Manager Aly Hassan. “He has invested a great deal in our players and our organization, and we appreciate his contributions to the club. We wish Tyrone nothing but the best moving forward. Paul Jennison will step in as interim head coach as we continue to focus on the remainder of the season.”
Mears originally joined Fort Lauderdale United FC ahead of the club’s inaugural season and helped guide the team to the Gainbridge Super League Final in 2025. During his two stints on the sidelines, he posted a 15-15-11 record, averaging 1.37 points-per-game.
